SAINT JOHN'S HOSPICE
Ministry to the Homeless
Saint John's Hospice seeks to be a community grounded in faith and service where homeless persons find dignity, respect, nourishment, and opportunities for new beginnings.

 | February 16, 2012 Saint John's Hospice will once again observe Ash Wednesday by distributing ashes on February 22nd. Fr Dennis Witalec, advisory board member and volunteer chaplain, will distribute the ashes in the Saint John's Hospice "yard" where our guests gather for lunch from 11 am until 1:15 pm. All are welcome ... guests, residents, volunteers and staff.
This has been a well received observance at Saint John's. So many of our guests, whether Christian or not, have a deep spirituality and respect for religious symbols and scripture that help give strength in the everyday struggles that befall all of us. Fr Dennis will reflect on the meaning of the ashes with each group that gathers for our noon lunch.
