 | February 16, 2012 Saint John's Hospice will once again observe Ash Wednesday by distributing ashes on February 22nd. Fr Dennis Witalec, advisory board member and volunteer chaplain, will distribute the ashes in the Saint John's Hospice "yard" where our guests gather for lunch from 11 am until 1:15 pm. All are welcome ... guests, residents, volunteers and staff.
This has been a well received observance at Saint John's. So many of our guests, whether Christian or not, have a deep spirituality and respect for religious symbols and scripture that help give strength in the everyday struggles that befall all of us. Fr Dennis will reflect on the meaning of the ashes with each group that gathers for our noon lunch.

 | January 10, 2012 Philadelphia Flyer Alumni visited Saint John’s Hospice on Thursday, December 22, to both provide and serve our daily meal to homeless and needy men. Don Saleski organized this event. He had visited Saint John’s a couple of weeks ago and arranged to provide Chinese food for today’s lunch with Food Services Manager Anthony Willoughby. Before the meal, Don Saleski presented a check to Saint John’s Hospice to cover today’s food expenses. He also cut a special cake with the Flyers logo, celebrating the Broad Street Bullies of the 1970s.
